How many prints do I need?

Searching for the perfect copier can be confusing from the start. You need to find a great office machine but you also need to decide how many prints you need for that machine. Understanding your print needs and the cost you want is not always easy.

You may be offered something called unlimited prints. The term “unlimited” may give the appearance of power and control, but the price that comes with it may not be worth it. You may be paying much more than you need to because you have been convinced that unlimited prints gives you the ability to complete any job you need to do, without overage charges. But what many people don’t consider is that they are paying a lot of extra money for pages that they never even use.

It’s always better to pay for the services that you actually need. There is no benefit to having unlimted prints if you never use enough prints to actually save money. It’s actually generally a better idea to try to get as close to the number of prints as you think you need without going over. You may need to pay for some extra prints every once in a while but at least that is money that is spent on a service you will use.

There are a few things to think about when considering your options:

  • How many pages am I consistently printing per month?
  • Is the sales rep trying to actually help me, or just make money for themselves?
  • Is the overage charge going to be cheaper than paying for many pages that you do not use

In many cases unlimited prints may look simple, but it can hurt your company financially. Breaking down the costs can show where your contract may be hurting you. Come see our helpful staff today and we can help you choose a smart decision for your print costs.
