Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Gmail:
- Navigate to myaccount.google.com/security.
- Look for the “Signing in to Google” section and activate 2FA.
Generate an App Password:
- Post 2FA activation, you’ll find the “App Passwords” option under “Signing in to Google”.
- An App Password is a secure, application-specific password. For its type, select “Other”, then label it – for instance, “Novatech Scanner”.
Safeguard the Generated Password:
- Once you’ve received your randomized App Password, ensure it’s stored securely. It won’t be displayed again post this stage. If needed in the future, you’d have to generate a new one.
Configure Your Scanner:
- Access your scanner’s settings.
- Replace the existing Gmail password with the newly generated App Password. This bypasses the 2FA, allowing seamless scanner operations.
SMTP Settings Verification (if altered):
- Server Name: SMTP.GMAIL.COM
- Port: 587
- SMTP Security: STARTTLS
With these steps completed, your Gmail is set to smoothly operate with your scanner, sending scans directly to email.
