The Difference Between Xerox Altalink C81XX Models

Xerox Altalink C81XX Family

When you are getting a copier quote, it can be confusing, especially when the products are in the same family. When you are looking at a Xerox Altalink C8130, Xerox Altalink C8135, Xerox Altalink C8145, Xerox Altalink C8155, or Xerox Altalink C8170 – what are you getting for the different prices?

The first two are the Xerox Altalink C8130 and C8135. These are the slower of the models at 30 and 35 pages per minute on those respectively. These don’t have the dual scanning on a single pass, so if you do a lot of scanning, it is probably worth going up to the C8145.

The C8145 and C8155 are the most standard units for busy offices. The scanner does single pass duplex scanning and the engine is strong and can take a lot of work. These are 45 pages per minute and 55 pages per minute.

The C8170 is mostly used in light production kinds of environments. This is designed for the heavy use. Most of our clients, if they are not print shops will opt for the C8130 or C8155. The reason is for the C8130 they get the cheapest copier in a great family. On the C8155, they get the fastest copier without needing special 20amp power connections.

If you want to learn or discuss the differences between the Xerox Altalink C81XX copier copiers, we would love to answer any questions you might have.

One question some have, is what is the need for all of these? The real answer is manufacturers need multiple speeds to compete on deals. If you are looking at a 45 page per minute Ricoh and Xerox only had the 30 or the 55, it puts them in no man’s land. So, having more speeds, allows for more chances to compete.
