Carowinds

Carowinds is an amusement park in Charlotte that encompasses over 407 acres of rides and fun. In addition, Carowinds also has a 27-acre water park called Carolina Harbor. One of the most sought-after rides is the Intimidator: a hypercoaster inspired by Dale Earnhardt that reaches 232 feet tall and travels up to 75mph. The Carolina Goldrush, with a mine train theme, is the park’s first rollercoaster and has been in operation since 1973.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

Open since 2010, the NASCAR Hall of Fame houses the Plymouth Belvedere that Richard Petty drove to win 27 races out of the 48 he entered in 1967. Charlotte was selected for the Hall of Fame due to many famous drivers from North Carolina. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is located 25 minutes south of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are Charlotte’s very own NFL team. The Panthers make their home in the Bank of America Stadium, a popular venue for visiting musicians and performances. Along with the New England Patriots, the Carolina Panthers are one of only two teams in the NFL to represent more than one state, as the Carolina Panthers represent not only North Carolina but also South Carolina. The Panthers have been competing in the NFL since 1995 and have won six division championships.

Truist Field

Previously known as the BB&T Ballpark, Truist Field is the baseball stadium and home of the Charlotte Knights baseball team in Uptown Charlotte, NC. The Charlotte Knights are a minor league baseball team of the Triple-A East. Formerly known as the Charlotte Orioles in 1976, the team has been called the Knights since 1988.
